Hot Wheels Collector App for Iphone/Android

I am making this article to answer one of the most common questions ever asked to me about our collection. "How do you keep track of your collection?".

I'm sure every collector has their own way of organizing their stuff and cataloging their collection. Some use excel, a simple list, photos, facebook albums, hieroglyphics :), etc.

Fortunately, Sort It Apps has an answer. Let me clear something up first, this is not a free app, it costs $5.99 and you need to pay extra to have an offline image viewing (last time I checked). A bit pricey? Well think about this, how much are you spending on your collection? Have you bought a $10 item lately for your collection? For diecast collectors, this is like a price of 6 regular hot wheels cars or a Treasure Hunt from a specialty store. So if you can spare that much amount, why not spend something to help you organize those expensive item ;)

Enough of the introductions, guys and gals, let me introduce to you Sort It App's Hot Wheels Collectors app for Iphone, Ipad, & Android. Note that even if this is called Hot Wheels Collectors, you can also store your other diecast brands in it like Matchbox and Tomica.

Let us start with the interface, you can choose from three types of views. The List view, Library view and the Cascade view. Down below the lists is the navigation bar. A few noteworthy buttons are: first button on the left is for the list of cars you currently have (the number is how many you have on your list), second is Wishlist where you put the cars you are currently looking for or cars you would like to have. Up above on the left is the button where you change the view types. The Filter button is exactly what it says, to filter the list. The + button is what you click to add cars to the list (more on adding cars later). The search text field is used when you want to search something on your list.

1. List View - The most informative of all the views, it shows the image of the item, the name and some information about the item.

2. Library View - If you want eye candy, this would be it, it basically gives you a bookshelf type screen where all the images of the car can be seen. You can click on the image for more information about the car.

2. Cascade View - This opens up when you change the orientation of your screen into landscape. It won't matter if you are currently on list or library view, once you tilt your screen this opens up. Just like the library view, you can click on the images for more information.

Adding cars is easy, first you click the + button above and you are presented with a blank screen with a text field above. You enter the name of the item you are looking for and the app will suggest items matching from the entries of other users, this lessens the time you have to enter information for the item you are adding. If you found that it's already there, you can use it by clicking the name. If you can't find your item on the suggested list, you can create a new entry instead. Below is a sample screenshot of how this happens

Once you click on something, you can check if this is the correct item. You can click the Save button above to add this to your list or Cancel to return to the search list.

In case you need to correct some information, you can click the Edit button and enter information yourself.

You can also replace the image either by searching Google using the app, taking a photo or selecting from your device's album.

So that's it guys, this is what I use to catalog our collection :) Happy Collecting!!!!
